Call control with softphones (DECT)

Call control is the ability to answer and end calls remotely using the multifunction button on the headset. Call control can be obtained both with physical deskphones and with softphone applications on a PC, but the steps involved do differ.

Call control with softphones

Call control functionality is available for a range of different softphone applications, though depending on the softphone in question, there may be additional software required to get this working correctly. Call control with softphones may be:

  • 'Plug-n-play': The headset has call control functionality fully integrated and no further setup is required.
  • Via 'HeadSetup': HeadSetup is a free piece of software which, when running in the background, will support call control on a range of different softphones.
  • Via a plug-in: Some softphones have a specific plug-in which must be installed and run in the background.

You can find HeadSetup and our plug-ins for free download at www.sennheiser.com/software

Using the headset with an unlisted softphone

If your softphone is not listed as a supported softphone, this doesn't mean that you can't use your Sennheiser DECT headset with it. Your headset will still be recognised as a 'speaker' and 'microphone' by your computer, and can be used as such with almost any softphone.

This is a so-called 'audio only solution', meaning that while the headset can be used for communicating via your softphone, you will not be able use the button on the headset to answer and end calls remotely, and this will need to be done from the softphone application on your PC.
